Rolling like a log on water”的感觉。
07:30 Going for breakfast
08:30 Attending the entry level introductory scuba diving course, PADI Discoverer (already included in hotel price).
There were only 3 of us (and one of the three bailed out after a little pool time
) so this looked much more like a private lesson. Our instructor “Sugar” is an awesome guy who proudly claimed that more than half of the watersport staff here were trained and certified by him, and people fly from all over the world to be certified by him, even on Dive Master level!
All in all, this was much easier than I expected – 4 basic skills, a handful rules, piece of cake.
10:45 Ocean time!
The gears are so damn heavy! Took all my strength to haul them from the hut to the boat without help, phew! It only took around 5 min to reach the dive spot, we could even see the hotel beach on the boat! Before jumping in, a dude on the boat told me half seriously,“If you go to hell one day and find a Jamaican there, just Follow The Jamaican and he’ll bring you back!”
How I love these guys!
I imagined my first dive many times before, will it be cold will it be dark will it get claustrophobic will I hurt my ear…, but believe me, it’s nothing like that! Once under water, none of the thoughts even occurred to me! Since the other course participant didn’t swim too well, Sugar was with her the whole time and I was just pulsing behind them using my newly perfected dolphin kick. Once in a while, he checked with me in gesture“OK?” and I gave him a big confident “OK” and it was alright
Yesterday I had my first snorkeling and I thought I saw MUCH, but it’s nothing compared to today! Sugar is just like an experience tour guide, who knows EVERY ROCK AS THE BACK OF HIS PALM! Would KILL for an underwater camera this moment!!!
The other girl didn’t feel too well so she surfaced after a while, Sugar then guided me through some more coral reef awesomeness and all of a sudden, he was tapping his cylinder with the metal stick to get my attention, then pointed upward! A dolphin! A shiny, elegant, lovely dolphin!
Depth – 38 feet, Time – 28 min, not bad for a first dive!
只要我今天自己顺利做完理论,明天再学一天技巧,我就PADI certified了,let me say it like a true Jamaican – YAMAN!
Will it rain during your holiday?
If it does, don’t worry. Most times, the short tropical showers provide a welcome break from the afternoon heat – just look at it as liquid sunshine, not rain!
Liquid Sunshine!
But unfortunately, that’s not an option.
20:30 Back to hotel room, continuing my quest for PADI…
All these cocktails (Rum Runner, Rum Punch, Mai Tai…) are really getting to me, harder to concentrate…
But I did it anyway.
00:20 Finished the last question in my exam, all in all, NINE damn hours!!!
Let myself fall to the pillow like a stone
